Back in 2015 game designer Chris Handy released to the world a very innovative line of games called Pack O Game. The name fits these games well because of their size is equivalent to the size of a pack of gum.

The line of Pack O Game can be carried nearly any wear which if you love going to dinner & gaming then these little games are exactly what you need.

Chris Handy is releasing his second round of games on March 3rd, 2016 through a Kickstarter campaign. This second round will feature four very unique games, SOW, RUM, ORC, & GYM.

RUM is a game for two to four players, ages 10 to adult, & will take around fifteen minutes to play. In RUM players is a set collection game in which players will press their luck to earn points by playing sets of rum bottles to win the game.

At the beginning of the game one player is chosen as the dealer. The dealer will place the seven Captain cards & the Castaway Clock in a row in the playing area. All cards should be placed showing the “1” at the top. The Parrot card is set aside while the remaining cards are mixed together in a pile face-down in the play area. This creates the shipwreck pile. Three cards will then be flipped over to create a beach pile with the single bottle rotated to the top. Then each player will draw one card to create their hand. Once all players have created their hand, the Parrot is to be mixed into the Shipwreck pile. Then regular play begins with the player to the left of the dealer.

Players in RUM will play until one player meets the point requirements to end the game or when the Castaway Clock is rotated to the Pirate Ship.

In order for a player to gain points, they must play sets of RUM bottles to collect Captain cards. But players must watch out as their Captain cards can be stolen from other players that play large sets of bottles.or if the Parrot is drawn they must return an amount of cards from their hand that correlates to the number on the Castaway Clock.

A player on their turn must perform one of two actions. They may either draw a card from the Beach pile & add it to their hand replacing it with a card face-down from the Shipwreck or draw a card from the Shipwreck. Or a player may play at least one Rum card from their hand to form a set of bottles to take control of a Captain card. Cards used in sets are mixed face-down back into the Shipwreck.

At any time during the game all three cards in the Beach are face-down a tide comes rolling in & washes them away. This means that all three cards are immediately flipped. If the Parrot is revealed then all players discard the amount of cards shown on the Castaway Clock & the clock is then increased by one tic. All discarded cards are mixed into the Shipwreck.

The game ends in one of two ways. Either when a player is the first to collect the amount of points needed on the special point chart to win or if the Parrot symbol is revealed on the Castaway Clock. At that point the player with the most points win.

RUM can be a very intense press your luck game. There are many factors that can either help or hinder a player in set collecting. I have always enjoyed playing set collection games & with this being as small as it is I can take in anywhere. The only thing negative I have to say about RUM is all the turning of the cards a player has to do & remember what position points are in. All in all another great Pack O Game from Chris Handy.
